Question Why do I need to reset my CMOS in order to boot?

Build:

Ryzen 3600x
Asus ROG STRIX RTX 2060
Asus X570 Motherboard
2 16Gb Vengeance Cosair 3200 SPEED Ram

I have one stick of ram in and in order for me to boot up i have to move that stick into a different slot and reset my CMOS everytime otherwise a C4 (The C4 error changes to 0d if I let the PC idle for a bit) error pops up and prevents the pc from turning on. The PC will also turn on if I power cycle it a couple times but i feel like the PC is getting damaged when I do it. I know its a memory error as my DRAM light located on the motherboard is on so I got brand new sticks thinking it was my ram however I'm still having the same error pop up. I have done everything besides reseat my CPU and was wondering if there is anything else i can possibly do to fix the error.

Could it possibly be a dead/dying CMOS battery or would it more so be the RAM slots themselves?

PS. I'm not the most tech savvy so if I'm sounding dumb I apologize 😛

If the CMOS is low, then yes, it can cause corruption. They're cheap to replace, so give it a shot. You'd reset your BIOS one more time.

This might not be the issue, but it is probably the fastest/easiest part to check. There could be other issues, like the RAM being slightly out of spec at the voltage it is given, or the power rails themselves not delivering a stable output at the voltage required.

Test the battery voltage with a DVM or replace the CMOS battery..
