Why do some ATX motherboards have dimensions that are 12.01" x 9.5" and other motherboards have 12.01" x 9.51"?

Will either size board fit into an ATX case? The difference between 9.0 and 9.01 is so small that I would think that hole placement might be a problem.

Are they basically all the same, but for some reason, they just decided to put the "1" at the end of the 9.5?

Am I safe going with either motherboard size?

P.S. These are for LGA1151/Z170 Gigabyte motherboards

ATX boards fit in ATX cases

It's not the size of the board that matters so much ... it varies by a half inch or more ... its the location of the screw holes that needs to be exact

Standard ATX = 305 mm (12.007") × 244 mm (9.606")

I have seen 12" x 9"

It's a rounding error from the conversion from metric.

By definition, any ATX board will work in any ATX case. If it didn't then it couldn't be called ATX
