Why do us overclockers need stress tests?

I know they are to test stability but when is my rig ever going to hit 100% CPU usage in the real world like playing games and running programs?

Solution
You would be amazed at how often my CPU hits 100%. The most obvious being when I'm converting files, something I do fairly regularly as I hate for my media files to be more than one separate type of format.

After spending all that $$ and time, don't you want to know if your rig can "take it?" In the olden days, vendors, as part of their quality assurance, would "burn" electronic equipment in stress labs before shipping the item to you. These days, they don't any more, so WE do it.
