My PNY GTX 660 died after only 2 years and two months of use. I agree that maybe the card is no the highest quality, but the lifetime warranty saved the card completely. I requested the RMA and the next day I received an email asking about system specs including power supply wattage, which I forgot to include in my RMA request. I replied immediately and the next day I received my RMA number with instructions. That's quick for my criteria so I don't know why some people complaint about their service.
I paid for a USPS flat rate padded envelope which will send the card cheap and insured from Ohio to New Jersey. They received the card in 3 days. They provided me with a tracking service to keep me informed about the RMA progress which seems like a nice feature to me. I tracked the card daily and it took 4 days to send me a replacement. That's also quick for my criteria and that quickness along with the RMA tracking service doesn't make other people's complaints look fair to me.
They sent me the card via UPS and it took 4 days for the card to reach my hands. They sent me a brand new card sealed and shiny who gave me a smile from side to side. Again that's also quick for my criteria plus they sent me a new card. Other people's complaints doesn't look fair. It took 13 days from the date I placed the RMA request to the date I received my new card in my hands. For my criteria that's a fairly decent and fast warranty service that send you new cards. I agree that maybe their cards don't have the best quality, but the lifetime warranty fixes that completely. I totally vote in favor of PNY and their lifetime warranty. Come on, you'll receive a new card about every two or three years which is about the time they start to fail. The only downside is that after about 4 years the cards will not run the present games effectively and if they don't send you a newer card at that moment, you're screwed from another angle.
I was building a new i7 PC and if it wasn't for the RMA I would had to use an old card with a new PC. Luckily they sent me a new card when the old one died and now I have a brand new card installed in my new i7 PC. The card is not high end, but is brand new and I'm happy for that! I was thinking to get a new GTX 970 for the new i7 PC, but what the heck the GTX 660 is new and I can live with medium settings to save money. I'll wait till the GTX 660 dies again to see what card they send me at that time.
Other thoughts:
Think about it, you spend about $500 for a high end GTX 980 which will run any game in maxed settings for the next 5 to 6 years, but the card will likely last from 4 to 5 years under careful maintenance. What kind of warranty do you want for your card, a 3 year warranty like any other company or PNY's lifetime warranty. With a 3 year warranty if the card last 4 years that's it, you'll have to spend another $550 to get the current high end card. With the lifetime warranty if the card last 4 years, you'll still get a replacement. After 5 to 6 years when the card can't run present games at maxed settings anymore, you only need to lower the settings to add 2 or 3 years to the life of the card. A lifetime warranty is a money saver in the long run specially for high end cards.
