I have Cyberpower 685 that I bought to keep my routers, cable modem and VOIP interface up during power fails. They are a very light load. This will maintain phone and alarm reporting service intact until the battery runs out. So I also plugged my PC in and had it configured to turn off after 1 min so that I get an orderly shutdown.
In testing it does shut down the PC after about 2 minutes and the amount of battery left is about 93% if their interface is to be believed.
But one minute later it shuts the entire UPS down which means I lose my router/modem/VOIP coverage!
Then I tried removing the PC and just letting it run those devices. After 45 minutes I decided to check it by plugging in the PC in a regular outlet then using their interface to see how the battery was doing. It shut my PC down again and 1 minute later it shut the UPS down.
After getting it back up it immediately said the battery was 100%.
I just don't get the shutting the UPS down when it's already shut the PC down?
That sucks.
