Why does computer clock keep resetting to a date in 2007. It's causing certificate issues for me.

There is something going on with the date April 11, 2007 for my computer. Whenever I shut the computer down and restart it changes the computer clock date to April 11, 2007 and then I get certificate errors when trying to log onto internet. When I change clock date to the correct date the errors go away.

when you change the date, Is it just in windows or in the bios and windows?

If you change it in the Bios and it keeps resetting, I agree with bignastyid and the battery is dead. If you are just changing the time in windows then you will need to change the time in the Bios also.

Since your asking you probably have no idea what a CMOS battery is. Its essentially a large watch type battery. The purpose is to allow the motherboard a way to keep things persistent even when there is no power like keeping track of time. Since your PC is really old I would replace the CMOS battery of which you can pick up at Frys, Microcenter, Radio Shack or newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2MX0YW1700.
