Question Why does FPS drop?

9900k with 1050ti, all drivers up to date. Went onto msi afterburner, just tweaked fan profile. Card dropped 40fps. What the heck?

But if I open msi afterburner it drops frame rate instantly? Any reason for this. Even did it when I did safe oc. Not encountered on other pcs I’ve built.

2 tb ssd
Z90 gaming x mobo
Msi gaming x 1050ti

Make and model of your PSU? Which version of Windows 10 are you on? Latest BIOS for your motherboard? You've got an unusual pairing for the GPU with that CPU.

My bios is out of date - forgot to do that.
And yeah, built a pc for my girlfriend on short notice before, which sucked up some money for my gpu, but I didn’t need 1080ti for the games I play so I went for cheap so I could at least play them until I have enough disposable income for my next gpu, wanted a relatively future proof pc base though.
