Why does god hate me?

I am so close to finishing Thief: Deadly Shadows. At least, I assume so. I
am currently in the museum looking for the artifacts (crown, eye etc.) and
it all seems to be coming to a head. However, my DVD drive seems to be
playing silly buggers. Whenever I put the DVD in, it starts to spin and as
it spins makes a strange rattling noise and refuses to read the DVD.
Strangely enough, it doesn't seem to do this to CD-ROMs though.
