Question Why does Instagram not allow downloading images?

What is their reason and have their ever been lobbied to permit it?

I know you can install browser add-ons that allow it, but I recently had to send them a photo with my face to verify I'm human, probably because of the image downloader I'm using. They were threatening to permanently ban my account, so I'm now worried about using a different downloader in case I get flagged again.

If you really want a copy of the image, there's nothing stopping you from using Print Screen.

If you wanted to mass download someone's gallery, then I can't help you there.
