Why does linksys think my acer wireless is off when it is not

Hello,
I am attempting to set up a new laptop to our wireless connection with Linksys WRT54G router - downloaded to flashdrive and opned on laptop 0 but the linksys setup insists that the "wireless radio is off." Wireless is not off, but I cannot proceed. I am not knowledgable in computers and don't know how to proceed - Is this a common problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

I think you may be getting the cart before the horse. What did you download on the flash drive ? Are you trying to set the router up via wireless ?

Download the router manual from the CD which came with it (or from the Linksys support site). Connect the computer to the router by ethernet cable. Once in the router's setup screens check that wireless is enabled in the router.

I admit, I am confused.
