But it does notice the same drives with Linux installs. A number of different thumb drives have been tried, all with legit Windows 11 install software. BIOS is latest update, with default settings.
How was installation USB formed ? W11 requires UEFI mode BIOS and TPM enabled. But it does notice the same drives with Linux installs. A number of different thumb drives have been tried, all with legit Windows 11 install software. BIOS is latest update, with default settings.
Thanks!! But what is the MS MCT tool, how to get it? I've been using an install that I purchased months ago from the MS site.

For best compatibility use Microsoft MCT tool to download W11 and make bootable USB.
What about Uefi mode BIOS and TPM enabled ?Well, sorry, but as I appreciate the help, indeed, doing that made no difference to my mainboard. The bios setup shows the usb drive as being present but continues to say that nothing is there. The usb drive is certainly there with the windows 11 install ready to go. But nothing boots or is 'seen'. Pffft.
I have a new board being shipped, and that seems like all I can do right now.
