My computer specs: CPU: i7 6700k GPU: GTX 1070 RAM: 8GB, I also have a 144hz monitor & a 60hz monitor. I just got the CPU on Friday, I was expecting things to get alot better after upgrading from my old CPU (i5 6600). Overall the cpu is much much better, but I feel like I should be getting more FPS while gaming. Any help?

Solution
You would need to update the stock Intel CPU cooler before trying overclocking. Depending upon the width of your case, a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or up to a Noctua NHD-15 would provide sufficient cooling for overclocking. But the GTX 1070 is fully capable of overclocking right now.

Also when I was looking at your motherboard there was a a caution that the BIOS needs to be updated for your processor (if you haven't done so already).

Maybe in the future.

What resolution? The i7 will give better minimum frame rates over an i5 but max FPS is more GPU limited especially at 1440p and up.

In reply to your PM, updating the BIOS probably would not increase performance apart from increased compatibility and stability.

This is the advisory for Intel CPU support. The asterisk note below doesn't specifically apply to the i7 6700k, but the other instruction does apply.

Please update system BIOS before upgrade your processor (CPU) to avoid system failure 23.

* Please Ensure You Had Updated the Latest BIOS Before Inserted the Intel CPU.
