Whenever I play games on my computer it shuts down after like 5 minutes, I think it is the CPU because whenever it shuts down, I unplug my computer, take off the CPU cooler and I feel the CPU, it is really hot. I don't know if I should reapply thermal paste, or just buy a new CPU Cooler.
These are my SPECS:
MB: MSI a75ma-g55
CPU: A8-3850
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: ASUS GTX 760
PSU: 600W Thermaltake Smart
Ok first off, STOP doing this. Getting your CPU good and hot and then immediately removing the cooler is bad and can damage the CPU. Also removing the cooler and not cleaning the CPU and cooler very well and applying new thermal paste means that every time you are putting that cooler back on chances are you are causing the next failure.
What cooler are you using? The first thing to try is to CLEAN off your cpu and base of your cooler completely, apply thermal paste properly (half a pea in the middle of the CPU), and install the cooler. Then Start the system up, monitor your temperatures with HWMonitor, and see if it fails again. If it does we can work from there.
Your cpu is always going to be hot. Your hand is no gauge of how hot it is.
