Why does my GTA IV and FSX lag?

So I just got my MSI 3GB R9 280x which completes my Amd FX-8350, 4.0Ghz and 8GB 1866Mhz machine. I can play battlefield 3 completely maxed out at an average of 105fps.

But I cant seem to run gta iv and flight simulator about 30fps, on max settings, my mate has an amd fx-6350, hd 7870, 8gb 1600mhz ram, but he can run the game at almost 60fps.

I have to admit both of my games are modded, i have icenhancer 2.1 and car mods. I also have a few mods on fsx. but even when I deactivate the icenhancer in GTA IV, its still laggy.

The first time I tried to run gta iv, i couldnt max out the settings due to it having problems with detecting games with 3gb, so I done a small command edit and that fixed that issue but now I just cant play about 30fps.

My rig can also run BF3/4 on high to ultra, I also get low FPS on GTA IV PC.

I just think that the game is horribly optimised for PC, crashes all the time, low optimization, cant alt tab out without it kicking you from online etc....

All I can recommend is that you have v-sync disabled on both GTA IV and flight simulator as that limits FPS.

It's interesting you mension this because i have in the past suffered from the same problem, alothough its an awful port of the game. The GTA IV we run on pc is just a coppy of the one used on the xbox 360 with some added control and graphics enhancements, thus running incredibly badly, the xbox uses 3 corse to prosess games and many games on the pc only realy use 1/2 with excptions to a few. This means although you have multiple corse the game cant utilize them properly, this puts alot of stane on even the best proseors so i recomend going into the task manage>proseses, right click GAT IV and increese the priority to HIgh (putting it on real time will simply crash the game) thsi will increese the games preforemanc quite alot, also its recomened you make sure you have a toataly upto date games so make sure you have the latest pacth instaled. This might help but no promises!
