I don't understand why my 6th generation cpu only has 2 cores, could someone on here please explain this to me?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
That's intels wayward naming conventions for you.
The i7 6500u is a dual core hyperthreaded cpu so it has 2 physical cores and 4 logical threads.
It shouldn't be named an i7 imo,ivy/sandy/Haswell desktop i3's had 2 cores 4 threads, even the mobile sandy i5 3470t had the same.
Should have been named a mobile i5 at the max, if you don't check specs you'd assume it had a minimum of 4 physical cores.
