Question Why does my laptop hitch now more than it used to?

When I first bought my laptop I used to comfortably get around 150 fps with a mix of max render distance and minimum other settings. Now, the problem is I only get around 120 FPS on the same settings and my game hitches often.

My specs are:

GTX 1060
I7 8750k
8 GBs of Ram
500 GBs of HDD

If anyone has any ideas on how to stop the hitching I would really appreciate it. I don't even mind having less FPS because I have a 120 hertz screen so anything above that isn't really necessary. If the issue is ram I plan on installing another 8 GBs in the empty slot.

when playing check the temperature and the use percent of the cpu and the gpu, it might be bottleneck or maybe the game got a update and after the update your gpu cant with the game because maybe more render or better textures

My GPU only sits around 30-50 percent. The memory (Ram) and disk sometimes reach 100 percent though so I think I plan on installing an SSD in the empty slot in the laptop and install extra Ram
