Why does my laptop keep disconnecting from the wifi?

Recently, my computer will randomly disconnect from any wifi source after around 30 minutes. It won't give me a notification of it happening and it will still say I am connected. But after I check any sites I will get an error message, saying that I am not connected. I will then have to disconnect and reconnect from the wifi source. Any reason why this could be happening?

[Update] I suspect it may have actually been water damage. I was carrying it in the rain, and the problem has stopped appearing after the event. This may have meant I fought water with water and won?

Few tips, update drivers/firmware for both laptop and router. Make sure there is no stray DHCP server you are accidentally connecting to. Look for "Rogue DHCP Server" on google if you do not know how to tell this. Make sure security is AES and WPA-2 Personal on the router. Try changing the default router address from the defaults (example: 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.45.1). Forget the network on you computer than reconnect. Restart your computer. Uninstall than re install drivers on your computer. Restart the wireless adapter.

There are many things that can be wrong with wireless networking. It is quite annoying. Sometimes it can be an incompatibility though. Some devices don't play well with some routers.

I have the same problem. Other devices work fine with no drop out eg iPhone, iPad, other people's Macbook etc, It only happens on my Acer laptop and only at this location (my cousin's house). I have no problems connecting to other wifi anywhere else. So I don't think its my wireless adapter.

I have the same problem on my new Lenovo Yoga laptop. I connect it to the Wireless fine. Then suddenly after 5 or 20 minutes, I Loose internet connection: Then I disconnect and reconnect and all is fine. Other devices on the Wireless Network are working fine. I use dynamic IPs. If i disconnect and reconnect, then I still have the same IP as before. Very strange indeed.

Everyone with this issue needs to check for rogue dhcp server's. They are very common and can be created simply by the power going out or changing a router setting. If you have a wireless bridge adapter (probably do not remember you do) to give a non wifi device, wifi, those are notorious for creating them. Try disconnecting them from the network and try again.
