Question Why does my laptop turn off every time I plug in ethernet?

Every time I plug in or unplug my ethernet cable it turns my computer into sleep mode no matter what I'm doing. I've got an MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro. Thank you for any help this has been an ongoing issue.

My first thought is that there is some sort of electrical short is occurring.

Only the laptop? What happens if another computer is plugged in using the same cable and connection path?

Does the problem occur if you plug the laptop into some other network?

Have you tried another known working Ethernet cable?

What OS are you running: Windows 10?

Look in Reliability History for error codes and warnings.
