Question Why does my phone call drop when I get home?

My girlfriend and I are far apart and we used to be able to call every night through Verizon phone service. We both have unlimited talk and text, and we have had no problems going the whole 8-10 hours in the call together. Now, When I return home, sometimes even before I go home, the call drops. I'm out in the middle of the road, or just in my room where we have always called and it's fine. My only idea is that when I go over to her place, it always happens after I visit her place, and come home my phone drops after leaving there within 10 - 30 minutes. Now I have it so that my phone is always unlocked at her place because there is no reason to have it locked. And my phone is quick access to unlock. And sometimes my phone glitches out when I'm down the block and it thinks I'm still in her home area and unlocks without a passcode. Could that be the issue? Any reason why this might be.

Hang up and call back when the phone drops, does it work right away or does it fail? Have you been rebooting the phone?
