I just built my first PC last week and have 16GB of 3200mhz RAM (corsair) but in HWINFO it only shows the clock speed at 1599.9mhz...?

why at the bottom is says 16gb clock 1599? but at the top it says each 8 gb stick 1600 mhzddr is mean double data rate 1600x2 is 3200
thanks man, no one else could explain it. didnt know it multiplies by 2 on there. should say that, thought they were both running at 1600 together from the bottom there where it says 16 gbYour DDR ram transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. The I/O bus clock is actually half of that hence why it shows the clock as 1600. Just multiply if it by 2, and if it's close, you're good to go.
Mine will read as 1585-1890, so you're doing better than me there, but if its close enough to total/2 (usually give or take less 5%) it's completely fine
The top "Memory Modules" Section is showing the information/specs for only one of your dimm slots, which is why it says 8gb, the bottom one is showing the current total for it all combined (both your dimms) which is why it is 16gb, and not quite exactly 1600 (x2 3200)thanks man, no one else could explain it. didnt know it multiplies by 2 on there. should say that, thought they were both running at 1600 together from the bottom there where it says 16 gb
