Why does my windows 7 logon freeze

Hello,

recently my compac windows 7 laptop freezes almost everytime, on the log on screen when i start it up on normal startup,but when i start it up in safe mode it works fine no problems at all.Sometimes it wont even get to the log on screen before it freezes.

If anyone could help me out with some tips so i could try to resolve this problem with my laptop

Welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums,
Your best option here is to load into safe mode and start enabling hardware in the device manager - device manager may already show an issue (it does that with a yellow notice icon next to the hardware). When your problem device gets loaded, hopefully, you'll notice the behavior change.
