Question Why does plugging in headophones screw up my pc?

I plug in my razor krakens into my headphone jack, and my pc freaks out. Suddenly, certain buttons cant be pressed on my tray. Youtube videos no longer buffer, and games such as rainbow 6 (only one I've tested it with) either get no sounds to headphones or I'm greeted with a black screen. If I restart PC, I'm able use them normally again. The same thing applies to USBs and my pc will blue screen when attempting to power it down. It never shuts down without me forcefully holding down the power button. I don't know what the issue is but im upset, annoyed, and what have you. This pc is 4 years old and costs 1400$, I did not expect it to crap out on me so soon.

first, I would check the ground on your outlet.
ESD electro-static discharge I suspect is the issue here. if your ground is not properly working the ESD cannot be grounded and will cause issues.

I'm using an alienware x51 R3, which has an external power brick.

i7 6700 k processor
gtx 970
Some proprietary motherboard
The issues started after I had geek squad install new ram strangely enough. The ram works fine in games, in fact, my games run smoother than ever, but now I'm having these strange issues. It's a ddr4 corsair vengeance 16 gb.
