yes, for the past 3 days now, every time i finish downloading a utorrent torrent the file is removed from my downloads folder and placed in my recycle bin. It isn't supposed to do that ever. It's never ever done that and i've been using utorrent pro for over a year now.

the only things that have changed is windows has updated its stupid defender crap the past 2 days. This is irritating as it causes me to always have to restore newly downloaded items from my recycle bin just to first view them.
i have eset A/V 8.0 and i've updated my files for malwarebytes and spybot, both the free versions. scanning has found no intrusions of any kind.

The only settings that i can find is under options, then preferences, then directories. under directories i checked "Put new downloads in my downloads file "C:\Users\Mikey S Gamer\Downloads" and i even checked the box for "Move completed downloads to:" "C:\Users\Mikey S Gamer\Downloads". even that didn't work. the new downloads would show up in my downloads folder while they were actively downloading or if they were seeding after the download was completed.
But as soon as i clicked the red trashcan to remove that download from utorrent. The file was removed from my download folder and immediately placed in my recycle bin.

Any other ideas u might have ss202sl would be great. thanks for making me check those settings though. Even though they didn't do what they should have done.
and vrumor, i'm not even going to honor your bull crap response with a reply. go troll someone else. your lucky i don't report you for giving a wasted and unnecessary reply.

it doesn't car what i set the setting to. my damnable desktop puts the completed files in the fricking recycle bin now matter what i tell the program to do.

what damn fricking changes have been made to my computer that would ONLY override things from eztv site or from extra-torrents and only since thursday?

ok so while i was asking for help on here today. i got a reply back from utorrent's customer service.
Appearantly the options for the red trashcan were mysteriously changed from the default of just removing the torrent but keeping the data that was downloaded to removing everything. the torrent +all the data downloaded.

So i reset the red trashcan to just removing the torrent and now it's functioning as it should.

Thanks very much for your help though.

i'm gonna include the steps for correcting this so you can help the next person with the correct info from utorrent customer service.

To fix this issue, simply right-click the "Red trash can" icon, and choose how you want it to behave when you click on it again.

The available options are:

1- Remove: Just removes the torrent from uTorrent, but saves the torrent file and the data downloaded. (This is the Default option).
2- Remove and delete .torrent: Removes from uTorrent and deletes the torrent, but saves the data.
3- Remove and delete .torrent + data: Removes from uTorrent and deletes everything.
4- Remove and delete data: Removes from uTorrent and deletes the data downloaded, but not the torrent.
Extra: Move to trash if possible: It will delete to Recycle Bin, if it is not full.
