why doesn´t the hdmi port work on packard bell imedia S3810

I have a packard bell imedia S3810 with Nvidia GeForce graphics card but the hdmi port doesn´t work - I am trying to connect the pc with a tv but only vga connection works. Thanks for any advice on this.

there should be a dvi/hdmi in the menu of the tv i hope this helps

Thanks pjg, much appreciated - but I think it´s going to take a bit more than just menu changes to sort this out.

change the resolution to 800x600 how to, pug in the hdmi and the vga, then go into the nvdia con/pan then go to multiple displays then check the box-sis, then make the vga the primary and then the hdmi 2nd, then change the resolution to 800x600 on the hdmi or go back a driver.
