Short version: I cant OC beyond 1950Mhz.

Long version:

i) OC issue:- I got this MSI Lightning Z 1080TI, supposedly dream card for Overclocking. It manually OC (MSI AB) only +50mhz coreclock to max 1950Mhz.
Thats far less than my previous Strix 1080Ti i.e 2080Mhz. I tried everything but invain. There's no guide how to ´unlock´ its OC potential, I asked MSI and sadly they said there's none. Strange how they made it without a guide!

ii) Fan issue: When temps hits 60´C the fans abruptly go from 0% - 100% and then down to 40%.. Driver reinstalls didnt fix it.

Its the most beautiful card, huge heatsinks, triple fans but whats the point if it doesnt OC decent..

Anyone can tell me some tips to OC.

Specs:-
10600k + MSI z490 gaming plus
Corsair Hx1000
Corsair 16gb ram
Win 10
Corsair Air 540 case

Already performing above spec. Didn't leave it in silent mode by chance?

1721 MHz / 1607 MHz / 11124 MHz (Lightning Mode)
1695 MHz / 1582 MHz / 11124 MHz (Gaming Mode)
1582 MHz / 1480 MHz / 11016 MHz (Silent Mode)

If you haven't modified the power target, max it out. Manually set fan speeds using MSI afterburner?

Just might not be a capable GPU. Even water cooled I can only pull 2100Mhz out of my GTX1080. so 1950 on the bigger GPU is still impressive.

Also, don't go on pure clock speeds, run a standard benchmark to compare the cards if you still have the Strix. My understanding is that you can post high clock numbers, but actually have worse results due to recoverable errors.

No, I manually OC using AfterBurner. (just updated original post now). Power limit increased.

Yes, that is also true. But Strix surely clocked + scored higher. I dont have it anymore.
Is there no extreme OC guide specific to Lightening Z?
