Why don't my gtx970 fans run at all?

Have had this problem for a long time now....finally decided to make a post.

My fans dont run AT ALL (0%) when im not running EVGA PrecisionX....is this normal?
Dont they have some kind of regulation built-in to the driver?

I dont like running PrecisionX cuz it messes up some other things

Your EVGA GTX 970 FTW is meant to have the fans off under 60C or low loads. It is part of the 0db noise feature advertised.

Youre right^^^ I just checked and my fans kick in at around 60degrees and at around 70degrees my fans are running @ 30%-35%

Now the question is: Is that going to wear out my card faster? Should I make a custom fan profile instead? The default fan profile with PrecX is pretty loud...I was thinking of lowering it a bit

Can't really answer that.
You can choose to run your own custom fan profile if you want.
I run a custom profile on mine so the max fan speed is 40%. That is what I feel that is tolerable and can still cool my GTX 970.
