Question Why don't my heat sink standoffs fit my motherboard

I have purchased a Hyper 212 Evo to cool my Ryzen 3 2200g on an MSI B450 Gaming Plus ATX. When screwing in my the heatsinks I realized they did not fit, is this normal or do I need to buy new standoffs?

That depends, did you get a Hyper Evo 212 that is compatible with AM4?

Otherwise return that cooler and pick up something with direct compatibility.

Well it did come with an AM4 kit, the standoffs included with the kit did not fit.
