Why dont photos work for my screensaver anymore?

I can see the photos on the monitor in the change screensaver menu and click on preview and the run through just fine. One time I walked in the room and they were running for the first time in a month then it froze and it has not run again. Just a black screen with There are no Pictures or Videos in C;/Users/Pictures/Karen
