Alright so I am going to be buying parts for my new PC in a bit, so why the Fury X @1080p?
Its the same price as the 1070 and 980 Ti but it does worse in a couple of games, other than that its a within a 10 frame difference, so should I just go for an Nvidia product?

Solution
Of the 3 choices, the 1070 makes the most sense to me. Unlike the Fury X, it can OC, and it's uarch will handle DX12 better than the 980ti. The only thing Fury X might have going for it, would be the use of Freesync if your monitor supports it.
Running a 1070 here and I'm confused when people say its fluid on 1440P res, its not, but I mean in games like BF4 on ULTRA @ 1080P I am neting 100-120fps avg, though with particles (things blowing up) It can dip down for 80-90, so I just lock it to 60fps. 980 TI is a good card. I'd keep that if I was staying at 1080P as 980TI is still a power house.

I guess that depends on your definition of fluid. I have a 1070 paired with a 1440p monitor and I'm able to get above 60 FPS in every game I have tried. Since I only have a 60 Hz monitor I don't care about 100+ FPS. I consider my games to be extremely fluid at 1440p on my 1070. If your definition of fluid is above 100 FPS I guess you would disagree.

it will depends on how sensitive you are with frame rate fluctuation. 90fps should be very smooth but 120fps is even more so. so you might be able to notice the game fluidity when the frame rate dropping. i did not have high refresh rates monitor so i never experienced how fluid when the FPS is above 60 but personally i can notice it when my frame rates dropping from 60 down to 55. maybe you can lock your FPS around 80-90FPS?
