Why has firewire 800 disappeared from motherboards?

I used to own a Gygabyte 955x Royal wich happened to have 2 Firewire 800 ports. All current mobos ship with Firewire 400 at best. Why?

Firewire is dying, very few people use Firewire with USB becoming the must have standard.

Then why go over the trouble of including Firewire 400 instead of Firewire 800?

The 400 will be cheaper to implement and be most used, although the 800 is technically backward compatible.
