[SOLVED] Why have I gotten this windows screen when booting up

Solution
mum had it show up this morning but I wasn't here to see it.

Its not a background process so can't stop it there.
Can't see anything in Task scheduler

there is a registry fix for the Edge Welcome page (they seem to be linked somehow) but backup registry before doing this

If you have Win 10 Pro you can use GPEdit - https://getadmx.com/?Category=Windo...sableWindowsSpotlightWindowsWelcomeExperience

I got it myself today, there is nothing I can see in the screen itself that would stop it showing. I clicked through the windows...

I believe there has been a couple of similar posts.

The screen is related to the 2004 update.

You can click "Skip for now" but going back to change the "defaults" may be problematic.

Google "Windows 10 2004 Welcome to Windows screen" and you will find multiple links with potential "fixes".

Do avoid any touted software downloads, registry edits, and so forth. Be wary of "how to videos".

The following link may be the most helpful:

Unchecking "Suggest ways I can finish setting up...…." should be tried first.

The thing is I haven't updated to 2004. I'm still in 1909.

I have seen it a few times in the past, I don't know what makes it appear but after some start ups, it would randomly show up. Its not new

this is for the one that shows in Edge after an update, I don't know if it applies to the one at startup but it sounds like it should.
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on Notifications & actions.
  4. Under "Notifications," turn off the Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested toggle switch.

I'm still on 1903 as well and I've seen that screen the last few reboots of my system as well. I figured it was due to the Edge update. One of these days, I'll actually pay attention to it, but until that day, I'll just hit "Skip for now" or whatever the option in that gets it off my screen the quickest.

Try running "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt.

And @Colif may have additional ideas or suggestions. Fine with me - I am not sure what else to suggest at this point. :)
Will try it out later. Thanks for the help! :)

Yup. It happens to me every month for 2 months now. Will check it next month too if it appears since I just skip it. Thanks for letting me know.

Sorry for the late response. Will check these things out tomorrow. Thanks!
