Hi all. I have been having some internet issues, and I noticed that the LED on the ethernet modem/PC is orange. I did a little bit of research, and I was told it is because I am receiving 100mbps data only.
What I cannot understand is that when i check my network card settings, it has an option 1.0gbps full duplex. So I assumed my network card can handle it. I am not sure about the modem, but the modem was given by comcast with the promise I would have my connective issues with gaming over. But if I am not getting green light, means I am getting up to 100mb only? I am currently paying for a 250/25mb internet.

Also, when I perform speed test in different websites, these are all the numbers I get. So I dont understand why i am getting this orange color if it means anything.

I don't know if it matters to say, but I had a first modem comcast gave me, and this modem was working great except when playing FPS games I would have random annoying rubberbanding. After multiple talking with comcast and blizzard support, they said it was the modem gateway not being able to handle the connection, so comcast sent me this new modem, bigger, and supposed to be better. Indeed, the random rubberbanding is gone, but it gave me a new problem: I get random disconnects that are even more annoying than the rubberbanding. sometimes disconnects every 10 minutes, every few hours, every 5 minutes, I can never tell when I am getting disconnected.
the modem is an Arris TG1682G

Thank you in advance😉

If your network card settings have an option for 1.0gbs duplex, have you tried turning that on?

The modem can definitely do gigabit ethernet.

Are you using a Cat5e cable to connect the modem to your router/computer?

Do you have a router? Not having one could possibly be the problem.

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply.
I tried to pick up that option, and it is still blinking orange. I had to do a research of what Cat5 cable is. I am not certain if the cable I am using has this capacity, but I doubt. I am still using a cable I had in like forever for Ethernet, I honestly did not even know they would make any difference. So I am purchasing one soon. Comcast is sending me another modem/router since it sseems the new one they sent me is malfunctioning.
