Hi, my pc is ancient compared to nowadays pc, my mobo is biostar g41d3+ with q9550 overclocked to 3,02 ghz. ive enter the bios --> performance --> clock multiplier, default is 333(2,83ghz) ranging from 300-600, at 355 multiplier it run at 3,02ghz, but if I change it to 356, it says "overclock failed press del to enter setup". what happen? does my mobo is too ancient? cuz I ever saw someone overclock it to 3,9 ghz. any information will be helpful

Biostar was not an overclocking motherboard of the Q9550 days, you needed a much higher quality OCing board to reach descent #s, I was running top of the line components of the day with 2,000mhz memory to reach 4ghz stable. What you need to understand was the Q9550 was actually 2 dual core CPUs. To successfully overclock both together you actually had to juggle the independent core voltage settings and fine tune them all to work together.

Overclocking the Q9550 took me back to Overclocking 101, (so to speak), as it was literally the hardest overclocking I have ever done, it got seriously frustrating at times, but once accomplished was the most satisfying OC of all.

I don't think the Biostar M/B will have the BIOS settings to get you...

I don't think the Biostar M/B will have the BIOS settings to get you very far at all, but you can check out the link below for information to help you, Good Luck! Ry
