So i have been watching the various reviews of the new Zen cpu's and I've noticed that most are showing the 9700K outperforming the 9900k in many of the game benchmarks, it's only when you get into rendering that the 9900k really shines over the 9700k it seems..

Specifics? Like some review links?

Maybe... in lightly threaded workloads (like most games are) hyperthreading can actually be a disadvantage? A 9700K still has 8 real hardware threads and that's probably enough.
