[SOLVED] Why is DDR3 @1866mhz seemingly hard to find?

So I built my system in 2013 (its still going strong) however I want to upgrade the ram from 16gb to 32gb (I do some heavy photoshop work that also requires me to have other things running at the same time Im definitely feeling a memory crunch). Currently have two 8 gb sticks of corsair vengeance @ 1866mhz which are obviously discontinued at this point

(Yes I am replacing ALL the memory, brand new 32gb not just buying an additional 16). However my options seem rather limited for DDR3 @1866mhz, however I see tons of ddr3 ram available @1600mhz. I wanted to get the same clock speed I had.

About all I seem to find @1866 (that actually have enough sticks for me to get 32gb) is Kingston HyperX as far as known brands and I think I found some patriot sticks on Amazon. I wanted to stick with corsair but all I can find is 1600mhz DDR3

Im guessing it wouldnt even matter really between 1866 and 1600 and I wouldnt notice any difference. I also wanted to just get 2 sticks of 16gb modules, but that is seeming impossible. I didn't want to test the fate of 2 ram slots that have never been used in 7 years lol. My board (ASUS MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z) can also support 2133mhz DDR3 ram as well I believe. Suggestions? Should I just pull the trigger on 32gb of the Corsair DDR3 @1600mhz?

Gives a clue as to what is out there, DDR4 has been the std for >2 years so it's just not being made any more. Additionally as the technology gets faster the older slower kits become more expensive as they are not produced, so you might find that a faster kits is cheaper.

Buying 2 kits of 2x8 is not guaranteed to work, a 4x8 kit will work.

I just pulled the trigger on the 32gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance kit @1600mhz kit on amazon for 140 bucks.

Probably should have just got 32gb when I built the system (at the time 16gb seemed like overkill to me, lol). So screw it, I need more ram, but not 4 times the price for 266 more mhz. I would just build a new system at that point (I really don't "need" to). Still runs every game I play great. Just needed more memory for other tasks.

Keep it simple, buy the 2 x 16gb ddr3 1600 ram you listed.
More ram will be better than faster ram.
The latency of 9 is decent and that counts also.
If you can find 1600 speed at lower latency, that is even better.

It turns out that for actual app performance speed does not matter much for the most part on intel processors.

I think you will be happy with your new 32gb's For gaming we don't really notice but everything we have is 16gb to 32gb and I maintain the fleet of family and extended friends computers.

Here is where the 32gb will shine, when using your photo shop and if your on the internet and listening to music and or streaming a video in the back ground.

Give you an idea in real time just on chrome 2% CPU usage with 14% memory usage.

When I made the jump it just made computer so much more zippier. Enjoy!
