I'm not sure the reason (there are certain economical factors that affect price), but there are several 16GB kits that are under $190.

I agree with 13thmonkey. Now is probably the worst time to buy RAM because price is higher than it has been the past couple of years. I've not seen my system use over 12GB of my 16GB RAM.
You'll not go past 8-10 with just gaming, unless you have specific needs (development) 32GB is not needed.
There is more demand than capacity right now so prices are high, they might come down middle of 2018, they might not.
so if I can pick that ram up for 150 dollars shipped, would it be worth upgrading to 32gb in your opinion?
If it was $20 then i'd do it, you'll not get $150 of 'value' out of it, buy another SSD if you have to spend the money, or just buy a pizza week for the next 15 weeks. I used to run a dayz server on a VM on the same machine that I was playing the game on, with TS, teamviewer and hamachi etc. so that others could join, and help me edit stuff. I don't think I got over 12Gb, massive PS files have stretched me a bit, but only when stacking 20+ 16MP raw images.

that's getting close to 16gb
It's not close enough to worry about, given that windows takes maybe 3, that's 9GB of other usage, to hit 16 you'd have to have 50% more demand from that 'other usage' not the 33% growth you might think.

ok ill hold off, your right 150 dollars is a lot considering that I probably wont see a benefit from it.
