Question Why is different between Modem and Router Speed.

Hello.

I'm wondering about networking system.

I'm using the system. Modem-Router-Switch. And Switch spread other buildings.


When I hooked up directly, I can see the speed on my Lap top.

1. Modem (Arris Model#: DG860P2)
Download Speed. 250- 280mbps

2. Net Gear Router(WNDR 3400 V1)
Download Speed. 35- 40mbps

I think reducing the speed problem cause is Netgear router, But I'm not sure.

Because I changed another Router(Asus RT-AC88U), It stll 35-40 mbps.

So, I need your help.
Why is reduced the Network Speed..

What type of Ethernet cable?

Those numbers suggests 802.11G WIFI.

If ethernet attached, fake CAT cables.
