why is everyone including me having trouble with laptops connecting to internet

I have an new acer my daughter got me for christmas and it was connected to my wireless internet until this morning check with my internet service already and its fine my desktop is working but not my laptop

what are you seeing at the bottom where the network icon is and what do you see when you try to goto google.com for example?
