why is Furmark so slow all of a sudden?

hello all,
i was recently overclocking my new gtx 960 4gb card and i managed to get +50MHz on the core clock. then to moved on to the memory clock speed and i was at around +500 when Furmark became unstable and crashed on me. After that it was running slowly so i rebooted my computer and reapplied my OC settings in msi afterburner but Furmark was still acting very slowly. the next thing that i did was to restore my GPU settings to default, and uninstall both msi afterburner and furmark along with all of my previous settings and then re-download just furmark on just my default GPU settings but i was still getting only 19fps instead of my usually 30-40fps at 1080p with 2x AA. the weird thing is that everything else runs fin. i booted up mass effect 2 and it was running no differently than it has been previously.

and the temp of my GPU only hit 75 degrees Celsius before the program crashed. weird

i just want the solution to getting furmark running smoothly again, because everything else SEEMS to be normal. btw i can post my RIG if you want.

-thanks!

EDIT: never mind about running smoothly, just booted up fallout 4 and it is playable, but noticeablely slower

Is it possible to pass on your full systems specs inclusive of your PSU, OS and peripherals? Are you sure your BIOS and device drivers are up to date? Can you replicate the issue on other titles? If the issue is evident on some titles and not all then it's confined to the game not optimized for your GPU or the GPU drivers aren't communicating with the game and in the latter case you can look towards uninstalling and reinstalling your GPU drivers.

Use display driver uninstaller to remove your drivers and reinstall using the latest forum off Nividia's site. If the latest drivers are causing an issue then you can try uninstalling again but using a previous version of GPU drivers.
