Why is Intel so much more expensive?

I just looked at AMD FX-4130 (Quad 3,8Ghz) and Intel core i7 2700K (Quad 3,5Ghz) and the 2700K is 328€ and the FX-4130 is 119€. I know that Intel is considered better but I'd imagine it's not 3 times better than the AMD one, so I'd like to know why Intel is so much more expensive?

No, it's not 3 times better but it is significantly better. Rarely do you get 2x performance for 2x the price and so on.

Intel is expensive as their technologies is different from amd.i7 is far better than fx 4130 due to poor single threaded performance of fx 4130.

I agree with that. It's not awesomely better, but it is.
I also heard that Intel processors has less tendency to overheat than AMD. Don't really know it this is true since i never tested it.

Intel is "so expensive" because they don't have any serious competition right now outside the low-cost/low-volume niches that AMD's "Trinity" APUs inhabit. Even AMD's "best" standard CPU (FX-8350) falls behind the mid-range i5-3570K while consuming significantly more power (and thus generating more heat), and that's not even getting into Intel's high-end i7 range.

If AMD ever gets back to near-parity with Intel like it was in the middle part of last decade, things may change. Until then, why would Intel lower their prices? They know that they have the superior product and don't need to further induce sales...

Low power consumption and great single-core performance. You could compare it to a great PSU with high effiency and strong 12v rails.

AMD is cheaper because:

Still AMDs 8-core CPUs do well because of all the cores they have, which gives better performance in multitasking and multi-threaded apps.

In general, Intel CPUs are more powerful than what AMD offers. They are also more energy efficient.

Additionally, the dominate the desktop, laptop and server markets. Therefore, they are capable of charging a little extra for their CPUs. It is not like Intel's CPUs are excessively expensive vs. AMD's CPUs. For example, the FX-8350 is selling for $190 while the i5-3570k is selling for $220, both at TigerDirect.

Taking into consideration that at full load the FX-8350 consumes about 80w more power than the i5-3570k at stockspeeds and the overall performance advantage of the Intel CPU, $30 is not an expensive price to pay.

Assuming you play games 20 hours per week every week of the year. The difference in 80w of power works out to 83.2KWH more per year. At $0.10 per KWH that works out to $8.32 worth of electricity per year. So, by going with the Intel i5-3570k, you pay the extra $30 up front, but you save $8.32 in electricity (at $0.10 per KWH). After the 1st year the difference between the FX-8530 and the i5-3570k is not $30, but $21.68. After two years, the difference in price will be $13.36.

Assuming you do not upgrade the CPU, every year you will be saving $8.32 in electricity costs (more if the price goes up) every year. After 4 years the amount of money you save on electricity is $33.28 if you had the Intel CPU. That totally offsets the extra $30 you paid upfront and you just saved $3.28 overall.
