Why is IPS so good vs TN if all else is equal?

This is a new question.

I have a small IPS screen and a large TN screen. The TN screen has good Delta E (< 3) and 100% sRGB coverage. Has 1000:1 contrast ratio on the TN and 1000:1 on the IPS. In fact it is better than the IPS for sRGB coverage (only 88% on the IPS). The TN has better brightness too. (350 vs 250).

So when I look at it in Skyrim, why do I prefer the image so much more on the IPS screen? In BF4 I prefer the TN. The TN is 1440p as well and the IPS is 1080p.

Have you calibrated that IPS? If you don't have a monitor calibration tool, have you checked into the product support to see if they have a forum for asking a calibration setup question for games? Out of the box, the general rule is IPS > TN in not only color reproduction but grayscale and blacks. Sounds like you got a higher quality TN and a lower quality IPS.

It's AOC q2778vqe and AOC i2369vm.

It's 8bit TN and 6 bit + dith IPS.

Skyrim just looks nicer on IPS one.

It's a very good TN panel. I loaded a calibration profile for the TN but not for the IPS.

Problem is it's subjective POV. BF4 look fantastic on the TN but Skyrim looks too cartoonish. IPS is a tad too dark for bf4 even when adjusted and just doesn't have the same vibrancy.

I think the TN looks very plastic and the IPS screen had a sort of glass look to it which might contribute.

I notice the windows 8 start menu thingy colours look so crisp as the colours look perfect. On the TN it's more plasticy and not as good.
