Beyond the possibility that in some specific models it might use better quality components compared to specific gigabyte models, their brand prestige allows them to charge higher because they know people will pay it for being an "Asus" product, as simple as that.

Personally, I have owned a few boards of both brands, (and many others over the past 20 years) I have decided that ASUS will be the only board I will ever buy again, if I ever even build another PC.

As stated by RaDiKaL, it's likely a mix of quality and being able to charge more for being a popular brand.

Because Asus has better drivers what you can download from their website and also they have more things that you need/might need.
