[SOLVED] why is my displayport on pc not working

put 2 monitor on hp 6005 pro sff. it has vga and display port for output. the DP has nothing on the monitor and when i go to detect it in the system it can't see it. Using an adapter from DP to dvi to vga to monitor. other than getting a low profile video card is there a way to make it work

Could you post your HP system specs and the monitors model.
If you connect a monitor to the VGA output, using a VGA cable, does it work?
If you connect a monitor to the DP output, using a DP cable does it work?
Have you tried a different adapter (DP to VGA adapter)?

DVI to VGA adapters are not supported by DP to DVI adapters.

Just get a straight DP to VGA adapter.

Plug into your graphics card slot that mainly works
