Why is my GPU overheating?

Hey, I just bought a new pc today. Its processor is an i7 3770k, the power supply is 600wr. The GPU is a sapphire HD 7850 2gb ddr5. And I tried two games: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

I tried Battlefield: Bad Company 2 first and it was always about 80ºc and it reached even 97ºc, so I instantly closed it because it scared me. Then I tried CS:GO and it barely reaches 70ºc.

Why is Bad Company 2 overheating my gpu that much? This gpu has 2 coolers, and a fan in the case. The temperature in my room is relatively cold, I'm with conditioning air. And it's not like it can't run the game, because it goes about 100fps on ultra.

I don't know what to do. Should I call the seller to tell him about this?

I looked for drivers but it seems like there are no drivers for this GPU on Windows 8.

Solution
Here are your drivers right here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208%20-%2064

Try it out and see if it improves anything. Drivers often do try to tweak fan speeds, and if you've never updated the driver, it could certainly help.

It's also possible it won't help though. I saw you mention you had "a fan in the case". Only 1? If the case has more spots for fans, it's definitely a good idea to install them. You said you just bought the PC today, so i assume it was ready-made from somewhere like walmart, best buy, etc, and not a custom PC dealer. In that case, i'm willing to bet your PC came with the minimum number of intake fans. Adding 2 or 3 more should have a significant improvement on your GPU temps.

Thank you very much. I'm trying it in some minutes.

Well yes, I chose the specs I mentioned and all the rest was made by them, and you are right, it came with only 2 fans in the case. (The power suply one and just the other one). If adding some more fans would help, I will do it then.

Do you know approx the price that could cost? I mean, for adding a fan in the case.

Thank you very much for your answer.

If you install the fans yourself, you can pick some up from Best Buy for about $7 each. Of course you could order the same fan from Newegg or Amazon for $3 each probably, but then you have to wait for shipping.

They are real simple to install. All you need is a phillips head screwdriver. Then plug them into the motherboard or power supply connector (the fans usually came with both options).

Not sure how much it would cost to have the PC dealer do it, and to be honest i'd be afraid to find out lol

Also be sure how many spots there are for fans. Don't want to get too many.

Nah it's okay. I was just wondering if they were really expensive but it's not like I thought. I will tell the seller to add some more to not screw up the warranty. Thank you very much again c:
