Why is my graphics card running at half its effective memory clock?

I have an Evga GT 740 2gb superclocked card.
It is supposed to have a 1334Mhz memory clock but only uses 667Mhz in any game I play. It runs great but I'm just wondering, is this normal or could something be wrong with it?
This is really bugging me and I haven't been able to find answers.

My box has:
MSI 970 gaming
Fx-8370 black
16GB hyperx savage Ram

Your card has DDR memory, (Double Data Rate) so when it shows 667Mhz, it's effective memory is twice that, so 1334 exactly. Your card is perfectly fine.

The 740 has 2 models, one with GDDR5 and one with DDR3, but in both cases, it's the same thing.
