Question Why is my GTX 1660 only running at x8 lanes?

GPU-Z shows my GTX 1660 only at x8 lanes, not 16. Why? I have the Render Test running to put load on the card.

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard at this moment of time? Antec is the brand of the PSU while 500W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the model of your PSU? Age of the PSU in question?

As @Lutfij said, the model of the PSU is important to know but I don't think that's the issue. Have you tried reseating the GPU in the slot?

Thanks folks for the replies. Yes removed, re-seated the card.

PSU is an Antec Earthwatts I've had this PSU for years; since I bought it new. Can't remember when. Yeah, old but has had light use. Never do any kind of overclocking.

My board's BIOS is Version 2209 (latest).

I guess I could put the card in another machine and test it. That way I'd see if it was the card or the board, or ?.

Update!
Before I shut down to remove the card to try it in another machine, I gave GPU-Z another run. For some reason it is now back to x16 lanes like normal. ???

Highly unlikely. Something else did the trick.
