Hello,

Basically, even when the CPU is idle it can go from 40 degrees to 43 to 45 back to 40 etc. When stress testing this, it can go from 40 to about 70 back to 50 to 75 to 63... you get the idea..

I'm using a H80i, running at 4.4GHz, 1.2V (I haven't tested it at lower voltages yet)

Any ideas?

Try some lower voltages. I had mine set to run at 1.6v at 4.5ghz. Those are some high temps. Even my chip at 5ghz doesnt get that hot most of the time. Sometimes mine gets up to 80c
But im also running a delidded chip with liquid pro and running at 1.420v

It depends on the load, modern cpu's are designed to operate this way and will fluctuate speed/temp with use. For a load test for thermal testing try running prime95 v26.6 with small fft's. Not all stress tests are the same, the small fft's prime test is a steady state (no fluctuation) test. Others are tests that cycle and you'll get the same up and down speed/temp behavior.
