I might have posted something about this before, but now it's really getting out of hand. I have a powerline adapter in a faily old house - lots of noise in the circuitry. I get a huge loss in speed (via speedtest.net), but my ping stays fairly the same on both ends. Here are the results:
My powerline adapter:http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5006221797(highest I've seen is 10MBPS download, early in the morning)
Straight CAT5 connection to router:http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5006228379(highes't I've seen is 105MBPS download, when no one was on the network)
The speedtest pings are similar, but as soon as I hop into a game, such as counter strike global offensive, on the computer using a powerline connection, even with my max search ping set to 50, I get anywhere from 180 to 500 ping. I might just invest in a 100FT ethernet cord to drag up to my room to get a fully wired connection, but I'm not sure if that'll help at all, I have no way to test it. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it will help me, and if it does, to what degree?
Thanks in advance 😀
