Why is my laptop does not read my cd or dvd disc

Hello,
I am using hp pavilion g6 notebook pc, I was trying the check the pictures that i saved in a dvd disc but my laptop don't see any pictures it just keep on asking me how to format the dvd and it's the same woth the other dvd's i have.

sounds like your dvd drive is had it, if you can try an external usb drive and see it works then that will determine that your internal drive is fooked!

First thing you should try is going to the HP website and looking up your laptop's model number under the support section (link below).

Find and reinstall the CD/DVD driver and see if this fixes your issue.
