Why is my monitor resolution so bad

I have a dual monitor set up and one of my monitors is always not as clear as the other. Admittedly they are both older monitors. the first is a dell 1280x1024 and the second is an LG Flatron W1952TQ. both are connected via a VGA cord. My video card is AMD Radion R9-200.

Any advice on understanding why my second monitor is not nearly as crisp would be appreciated.

The lg one only does 1440 x 900 while your dell one does the resolution you listed.
